Wide Bandsaw Blades

Edwards Precision Saw Services have been manufacturing Wide Bandsaw Blades for the sawmilling industry for over 15 years. Using high tech production equipment and with large stocks of raw material at our disposal, we are well placed to meet your requirements for Wide Bandsaw Blades and related mill equipment.

Production Line Equipment

Twin modern press lines produce toothed steel to exacting tolerances. The ability to punch in a variety of different tooth shapes enhances the capacity to match customer requirements. Additionally the vari-pitch centre produces this latest style of blade. Hydraulic shearing is followed by heavy duty Flash Butt Welding. This heavy duty capacity machine ensures inclusion free joining and tempering with a very small heat zone. Additionally we have a 420mm capacity MIG Welder.

Twin plasma-arc stelliting lines provide high quality stellite tipping, whilst hydraulic swaging is used for non-tipped blades. Our fully automatic hydraulic tensioning machinery is programmable to meet every blade application, whilst final tooth and side grinding is undertaken on one of our many Vollmer wet grinding machines, including state of the art CNC CA300 Camless grinders, capable of grinding over 60 different tooth shapes, including a whole range of Vari-pitch formats.

After considerable experience gained, both within the mill environment and through our customers requirements, we offer bandsaws in the following grades:

EEC - 2% Nickel Steel This strip is mainly of European origin but in all cases includes a 2% nickel content. Cheaper plain carbon steel grades are available in the market but do not perform to a standard acceptable to us.

Swedish Sandvik Bright Grade Probably the best known name throughout the world for bandsaw strip. This bright, polished material is the preferred quality in many mills. Its ductile nature and long service life gives reliable performance over many years.

Swedish Sandvik Multishift Grade A higher tensile strength material than the standard grade. Eminently suitable for the high production, high output mill. Particularly suitable for stellite tipping where its ability to retain its tension over long periods gives good cutting performance between shifts.

Swedish Sandvik Durashift grade A completely new patented grade of steel giving very long service between tensioning. The steel can be used with either stellite or swaged teeth. Its use is primarily for mills able to run stellite for extended periods, where savings on downtime and servicing more than justify its higher cost. Further information about this steel can be found by referring to the Sandvik website at http://www.smt.sandvik.com/durashift

Stellite Tipping The ultimate in extra tip hardness for difficult hardwoods, frozen timber or extra smooth finish on softwoods. Our sophisticated Plasma-arc stelliting machinery will fuse a deposit of hard metal to Rockwell 44C, and correctly anneal it by induction loop heating. The teeth are then precision ground on water cooled equipment to give accurate and razor sharp teeth, of sufficient size to allow between 15-18 regrinds before a new deposit is needed.

Vari-pitch Tooth Forms
For a minimal extra charge, we are able to offer improved speed of cut and a decrease in resonance noise through the use of a varying pitch format, which we are able to generate in our unique CNC Production Centre. A system long in use with metal cutting bands, the advantages can now be made available for timber cutting. Different formats to meet different requirements and grinding machines can all be accommodated with our equipment. Please contact us to discuss this important development.

To service the above requirements, we hold in excess of 70 tonnes of steel. Tooling on our press lines can closely match your existing tooth shapes. We can provide sliver teeth, body slots, double toothing, swaged or stellited tips. Saws can be 'Ready-to-Run', 'Toothed & Joined' only, toothed coils or plain strip. All saws carry detailed instructions as to 'Running-In' procedures to ensure trouble free cutting.

Inspection facilities include the capacity to hardness test steel and welds. All processes are recorded and each batch of blades is given a unique number for quality control tracing procedures, prior to saws being carefully packed for shipment. 'Running In' procedure advice is sent with each shipment.

Finished goods are carefully inspected and boxed ready for shipment. Our EXPORT PACKING DEPARTMENT ensures saws are carefully packed, documented and despatched via our shipping agents around the world.
